Hottest and Coldest Place Comparison || ESOL

Have you ever wonder what is the hottest and coldest place on earth. Around the world, every continent and country have a different temperature, even each region has a different temperature. Throughout my research, I have found out what is the hottest and coldest place on earth.

Dallol, Ethiopia
The Hottest Inhabited Place on Earth is Dallol Ethiopia with a daily maximum temperature of around 41℃. Dallol, Ethiopia has considered a ghost town because of Dallol is a cauldron of burning salt, volcanic rock and sulfuric acid. However, some tourist visit Dallo Ethiopia but some people went to Dallol Ethiopia to get minerals. In the past, several mining operations have been carried out in Dallol but it stopped in the 1960s. If some people want to visit Dallol Ethiopia, the only way to visit Dallol this day is via camel.

Oymyakon Siberia
Surprisingly, the coldest inhabited place on Earth is in the area of Russia, it’s the Oymyakon in Siberia. So what’s the life in Oymyakon? Interestingly, there’s approximately 550 of the population that lives there. The coldest temperature that ever recorded was -71.2℃. Oymyakon’s school would be likely closed only when the temperature falls below 52℃. The residents would leave their vehicle running all day so the gas won’t freeze and be able to drivable. If you stayed outside for a long time you would likely get frostbite and your exposing skin would be frost and your eyelashes would likely be frozen and it will turn white because of the ice. Because of the weather in Oymyakon they cannot plant vegetables since the ground is cold, they only rely on animals, most of what they eat are frozen raw fish such as salmon, whitefish and they also eat horse livers.

The climate and temperature in Dallol, Ethiopia and Oymyakon, Siberia has a similarity and that is having extreme temperatures. These two places are also inhabited but nowadays Dallol is considered as a ghost town and also there’s an animal living in both places. However, if there’s a similarity there’s also a difference - the differences that they have is that the atmosphere they are feeling and surrounding they are seeing has a difference.

Tomorrow. When The War Began Chapter Eleven

1. How does Ellie feel as she is waiting in the truck at the Council Depot? Where do her emotions come from?
-She felt a shiver and cold, excitement but out all of those emotions, fear is the greatest. Her fear came form love, love for her friends because she doesn't want to let them down.

2. Why are the girls smiling when in danger? Is this a logical response?
-They are probably smiling because of adrenaline they felt and they might be just trying to be positive.

3. What does wearing a helmet and buckling up mean to the girls?
-Wearing a helmet and buckling up means a lot because they will be safer.

4. What does Chris’s story say about the town?
-The town has changed a lot, It wasn't like that before, many things happened. The town has no electricity it's been cut, the houses are empty no one is in their house, many incidents happen of the road. The road is filled with soldiers and trucks.

5. What impact does the BMW have on the story? Does Chris seem lonely? Explain your answer?
-The BMW car has a really great impact on the story because it helps them to escape when the first car they used is been shot in the tyre. Yes, Chris seems lonely because since the war started his been by himself, he spent a week having no contact with anyone and seating and watching from the tree.

6. What is Homer’s explanation for the need to swap cars at Chris Lang’s place? What does this show about the way he is thinking?
- His explanation of switching car at Chris Lang's place was to get a four-wheel car and used it to go up to Hell. Instead of using the BMW(the car they used to get to Chris Lang's place) they will switch with the olive-green Mercedes(the one in Chris Lang's garage). Instead of leaving the BMW sitting in front of Chris house, one person will drove the BMW to the upper dam and then push it until it ran down the slope. Leaving the BMW car in front of the house is dangerous because if soldiers patrol in that area they might burn the house and harmful things can happen to the owner of the house. This plan shows that Homer is really thinking and scheming tactically.

7. What are your thoughts on the story so far...
-The story is really interesting and mysterious, I think many things gonna happened for the next chapters.

- Being different from others eg. physical disability, having an unusual tone of voice.

Tomorrow, When The War Began Chapter Ten

1. Why does Homer insist on going on with the plan after Corrie’s house blows up? How does he convince Corrie that this is a good idea?
- Because he was hoping they might think that they will be dead and blown up in the house
2. Describe the strategy Home and Ellie use to ensure their safety when riding their bikes into town. What does this show about how they are starting to think?
- They were riding a bike and Homer was riding two hundred behind Ellie so it would be less obvious. She would stop when every intersection is coming and would signal at Homer once the road is clear.

3. Why do you think Mr Clement is reluctant to help Lee and Robyn? How would you react in his position?
- I think the reason why Mr Clement is reluctant is that he doesn't want to get caught and he might don't know who to trust. If I were in Mr Clement situation I would not be by myself and I would join Homer and others. There's a possibility that they will also catch me if I stayed at one place.

4. How has Homer changed in Ellie’s eyes since the invasion?
He became thoughtful, serious and braver.

5. What are the 2 different types of soldiers and how do they each treat the inhabitants of Wirrawee?
The first one is the professional one, they are the one treated people better. The second one is just there to make up the numbers, they are treating people badly and not trained well enough.

6. Why do you think Robyn had the strength to carry Lee?
- Based on Ellie's reaction, she knows that Robyn was pretty fit and strong. Since they are friends Robyn knows how important to rescue Lee.

7. How have the group decided to rescue Lee, whose idea was this and why do they think it will work.
- They planned to get a truck from the Council Depot's and Homer and Ellie would burn down the street. Roby would go back to the restaurant and get Lee ready and gets him to go to the close street and do anytime that will fill the time and wait for Homer and Ellie to arrived. Then they will et everyone get into the truck. It was Homer, Ellie and Robyn's idea. I think it's gonna worked because they didn't just agree in one option but they make a brainstorm and everyone participate in the scheme and everyone agree to the plan

8. What do you think happened to people who ‘tried to be heroes?’
Probably dead or was capture.

Human Reproduction

What is Human Reproduction?
Human Reproduction is a form of sexual reproduction that is resulting in human fertilisation. It's involved sexual interaction between woman and man.

What is the two main types of reproduction:
- Asexual reproduction where only one parent produces clones of themselves.
- Sexual reproduction where two-parent produce offspring which are genetically different from themselves.

Human reproduces sexually and males and females have different reproduction organs. Each organ has a different function.

Male Reproductive System

  1. Testes- Glands in the scrotum that reproduce sperm and the hormone testosterone.
  2. Urethra- A tube inside the penis through which urine and semen pass out of the penis.
  3. Epididymis- Tube at the back of the testes that store sperm.
  4. Bladder- Flexible bag for storing urine.
  5. Vas deference- Tubes that connect the epididymis to the urethra. Its often called the "sperm duct".
  6. Anus- Opening through which faeces passes.
  7. Prostate- A gland just below the bladder that reproduces a fluid that provides the sperm cells with nutrients.
  8. Rectum- Elastic sac that stores solid body waste before being passed as faeces.
  9. Penis- The external sex organ of a male. A hood skin (foreskin) covers the head (glans).
  10. Scrotum- A san that holds the testes.

Female Reproductive System

  1. Ovary- One of two organs either side of the uterus. They contain the eggs.
  2. Fallopian Tube- One of two tubes that connect an ovary to the uterus.
  3. Bladder- Urine is stored here before passing out the urethra.
  4. Vagina- A tube that connects the cervix to the external opening called the vulva.
  5. Uterus- Organ in which the baby develops if an egg is fertilised.
  6. Rectum- Elastic sac that stores solid body waste before being passed as faeces
  7. Vulva- The vulva is the external part of the female genitalia.
  8. Urethra- Tube through which urine flows through after exiting the bladder.
  9. Anus- Opening through which faeces pass.
  10. Cervix- Junction between the uterus and vaginal tube.
Fertilisation
What is fertilisation?
It's a process of interaction of male sex cell and female sex cells. Fertilisation happens when an egg cell meets with a sperm cell and joins with it.

Question:
How long do you think fertilisation does it take before the baby is born?
Why do you think menstruation happens for girls every month?

Creative Writing Reflection

For the past few weeks, we have been working on a Creative Writing Task. I just finished all of the tasks and the recent task I just finished is creating my own Haiku Poem.

Reflection
Throughout the time I'm working in my Creative Task, I have learnt a new topic. I found it very challenging for me because I only have a short time to work for all the tasks. Each task has a different topic which is great because you are exploring the creative writing task you are not just focusing on just one topic. There was one task that you have to define metaphor and simile and write a sensory language. The task I found very challenging was the Haiku Poem because Haiku has a rule before you write and It's hard to find an interesting word that fit in your topic. Haiku was also the task I found interesting. Haiku is challenging yet interesting and fun to do.

Haiku Poem

In English, we are have been working in Creative Writing Task and today I did the Haiku Poem task. In this task, I have to write  4 Haiku Poem.

What is Haiku?
Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. It contains 3 lines with 5,7,5 syllables.

L.O: Today I am learning to create and write my own Haiku Poem.

Sensory Language

In English, we have chosen one task on Creative Writing Matrix and finish the one we choose. I have decided to do Sensory Language. In this task, we have to write that create an image or description.

L.O: Today I am learning how to write a Sensory Language.

What is Sensory Language?
Sensory Language is a language that connects to the five senses (touch, smell, taste, hearing and sight) to create an image and description.

Example:
The sun is shining bright in the skies and alone in the empty welkin. Walking in a frosty road that makes my foot frost and my body that is shivering when the wind pass-through my skin. The winds are waving and make the trees dancing and branches rustling. The scent of a smoky coldness that lingers in my nose as I am holding a hot cup of cocoa and my mouth that is being filled with chocolaty cocoa with soft and melted marshmallows.
