Children of Blood and Bone Chapter 30 Responce

 Chapter 30 – Amari

Chaos.
Before this moment, I never truly understood the word. Chaos meant Mother’s screams before a luncheon. It meant the scramble of oloyes to their gold-lined chairs.
Now chaos surrounds me, pulsing through every breath and heartbeat. It sings as blood splatters through the air, snickers with delight as boats explode into oblivion.
A message I take from this scene is that since Amari is a princess she never know the true meaning of chaos and saw the true chaos outside the palace. Another message I take from this is that the word 'chaos' has a different meaning for different people, I may not experience a chaotic event in my life but I heard of it - when the people are panic buying necessities because of the pandemic.

Wind Racers

In Science, we have been focusing on Force and Motion and last week we made a wind racer using bamboo sticks, plastic, sellotape.

1. Post a photo of your racer.

2. Calculate the speed of your racer.
Speed: 0.542 ms
Distance: 9 m
Time: 16s 61

V= ∆d ➗ ∆t
 = 9➗16s 61
= 0.542

3. Why did you choose your design?
Our racer is inspired to the ship we have seen on anime and the ship called 'Thousand Sunny'
How could you have to change the design to make your racer go faster?
To make our racer go faster, we could shorter the sail a little bit.

Toning Street Art

This past few weeks in Art we have been focusing on Street Art around Christchurch. For this topic, our teacher asks us to choose street art and do some toning.

What is Tonal Drawing?
Tonal drawing varies from the bright white of a light source through grey to the deepest black. Tonal drawing is the art of gradual increase or decreases from light to dark from one part of the drawing to the other.

This is the Street Art I choose to do

Egg Drop

Aim: To build a structure that will prevent a raw egg from breaking when dropped from a significant height.

Equipment: Stick, bubble wrap, foams, cotton and yarn.

Method: We wrap the egg inside the bubble wrap together with foams and cotton. We also made a cage out of sticks and foams.

Results: Luckily, the egg did not break. To be honest I didn't expect that our egg will not break because we only use a few pieces of equipment and it's not enough for the egg to be secure.

Weight:
a. Egg mass = 40g
b. Egg & lander = 82.49
82.49 x 10ms = 824.9

Children of Blood and Bone Chapter 22

 Chapter 22 - Amari

I pause for a moment, aghast at the number of them filling the narrow path. Before today, I caught only glimpses of the laborers brought in to staff the palace—always pleasant, clean, groomed to Mother’s satisfaction. Like Binta, I thought they lived simple lives, safe within the palace walls. I never considered where they came from, where else they might have ended up,
“Skies…” It’s almost too hard to bear the sight. Mostly diviners, the laborers outnumber the villagers by hordes, dressed in nothing but tattered rags. Their dark skin blisters under the scorching sun, marred by the dirt and sand seemingly burned into their beings. Each is hardly more than a walking skeleton.
This reminds me of the topic of 'slavery' I learned in my Social Studies class. The way Amari describe the condition of the laborers reminds me of African slavery happened many years ago.

Children of Blood and Bone Chapter 13

 Chapter 13 - Zѐlie

I turn back toward Amari and try to let it go. But in her eyes, I see her brother’s. I feel his hands choking me.

“I want to trust her—”
“No, you don’t.”
“Well, even if I did, I can’t. Her father ordered the Raid. Her brother burned down our village. What makes you think she’s any different?”
A message I take from this scene is that Zelie is somehow her anger is starting to go down and she is now taking her anger towards Amari's brother after what she saw in her dream, the reason of hatred to Amari was because of what the Royal did to the maji. A
small part of Tzain wants to trust her

Financial Literacy

In Maths we have been learning about Financial Literacy and for this week we talked about Percentages and Increases/Decreases.

Percentage
- To calculate a certain percentage of an amount, use this rule:
[percentage ➗ 100 x amount]

Eg.1
10% of $150 = $15
(10 ➗ 100 x 150 = 15)

26% of $451= $117.26
(26 ➗ 100 x 451 = 117.26)

Eg.2
A store has a hoodie, normal price $66, on sale for 25% off.

a) How much is the discount?
    25➗100x$66 = $16.50

b) What is the sale price?
    $66 ➖ $16.50 = $49.50

Increases/Decreases
- Often we need to increase or decrease an amount by a certain percentage (eg. discount, mark-up etc).

For these types of calculation, do the following:

1. Calculate the "percentage of" the amount (percentage ➗ 100 x amount)

2. Add it (for an increase) or subtract (for a decrease) from the original amount.

Eg.1
Increase $80 by15%
(15% ➗ 100 x 80 = 12)
($80 ➕ $12 = $92)

Circuit

What is the circuit?

A circuit is a path where electricity travels. There are two types of circuits: Series and Parallel circuit. A Series Circuit is where there is only one path for the current to flow while the parallel circuit is where the current can flow into different paths.

What is Current in Parallel? What is the difference between the current in parallel and current in series?

Current is the movement of electrons in a circuit. It is measured using a device called an ammeter and the unit of current is an amp.  In a parallel circuit, the current is shared whereas, in a series circuit, the current is the same and isn't shared

Children of Blood and Bone

Chapter 9 Zelie

“Mama, are you okay?”
Tears come to her eyes, spilling into the wrinkles of her dark skin. “It’s been so long,” she whispers. “I never thought I would feel the warmth of magic again”

“I feel,” she chokes through her silent sobs. “I feel like I can breathe again.”
A message I take from this scene is that Mama Agba felt amazing as she felt the magic through her veins and after 11 years since the raid her magic is now back. She felt the warmth of her magic and I can feel that she missed her magic.
